WALKING TOUR -BUCHAREST AND EARTHQUAKES (ORGANIZED BY INFP)
“Bucharest and Earthquakes” guided tour will be held on 9 and 10 November 2023, marking 83 years since the 1940 Vrancea earthquake (moment-magnitude 7.7). The tour will take you to central Bucharest, which was the site of many complete or partial building collapses during the 1940 and 1977 Vrancea earthquakes. You will find out also visually what went wrong back then but also what’s the current situation: why there are still so many vulnerable buildings and which are the risk reduction perspectives. Your guides will be seismologists and engineers from the National Institute of Earth Physics. On 9th November the tour starts from the Venue. The extended tour (lasts three hours) is available on 10th November and starts from University Square, at 17:00 local time.

WALKING TOUR -BUCHAREST AND EARTHQUAKES * On behalf of INFP for registered participants at GEOSCIENCE 2023
“Bucharest and Earthquakes” guided tour will be held on 9 and 10 November 2023, marking 83 years since the 1940 Vrancea earthquake (moment-magnitude 7.7). The tour will take you to central Bucharest, which was the site of many complete or partial building collapses during the 1940 and 1977 Vrancea earthquakes. You will find out also visually what went wrong back then but also what’s the current situation: why there are still so many vulnerable buildings and which are the risk reduction perspectives. Your guides will be seismologists and engineers from the National Institute of Earth Physics. On 9th November the tour starts from the Venue. The extended tour (lasts three hours) is available on 10th November and starts from University Square, at 17:00 local time.
