ABOUT THE MISSION OF THE ROMANIAN SOCIETY OF APPLIED GEOPHYSICS
The Romanian Society of Applied Geophysics (SGAR) (http://appliedgeophysics.ro/) was founded in 2012 in Bucharest, Romania, at the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Geology and Geophysics, University of Bucharest, by academic staff and geophysicists involved in research or exploration activities. SGAR embraced a mission of connecting the scientific community and the geophysical exploration industry, as well as to support the professional development of its members or young geoscientists, students and PhD students.
SGAR organizes short courses, scientific workshops and field activities, mostly dedicated to students and young geophysicists, as we appreciate the value of sharing scientific knowledge and experience.
The Romanian Society of Applied Geophysics organizes yearly, two main events: the GEOSCIENCE International Symposium and the Workshop on Electrical Resistivity Methods.
GEOSCIENCE International Symposium offers a wide range of topics and welcomes contributions in various research areas, with the intention of providing the geoscientific community and industry with the opportunity to share and discuss research results, as well as to discuss the newest trends in the field of applied or theoretical geoscience.
The Workshop on Electrical Resistivity Methods is an opportunity for participants to gain new skills, new insights as well to share their experience and contribute to advance the knowledge in the proposed thematic or study location.
Through its field activities, the Romanian Society of Applied Geophysics initiated a program to increase awareness about geoheritage in less known parts of Romania and to propose thematic routes and research activities.
SGAR projects also help address United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). To learn more about UNSDGs, please visit the website.
